Help for Wildlife teams were heavily involved with the 2019-2020 East Gippsland bushfires. Our teams travelled to fire affected areas most weekends until lockdown for Covid-19 came into effect. We thank our volunteer vets, psychologists and members for their time. A huge thank you to Greta, Julie, Elaine, Maxine and Sue, for all their hard work and organising skills; all those wonderful plumbing companies that donated the water stations; and the general public, both in Australia and overseas, who generously donated. Thanks also to organisations such as: Animals Australia, IFAW, The Medical Pantry, Sue at Sue Creates Art, Australian Animal Rescue, Mountain Ranges Vet Clinic, Cindy’s Promise, Paskals, Jill from Kool it Wraps, Metro Trains, Not Just Natives, Biolac, McCrae Lions Club, Hadlow and Sons, Carla from W4W, Ambulance Victoria, Victoria Police, CFA, the team at Yarrambat Veterinary Hospital, and Wildlife Heroes Program. Without this wonderful support we would not have been able to help those in the fire affected areas as we did.
We also assisted carers in other states affected by bushfires this year. It was heartening to see so many organisations come together to help. We would also like to thank all those wildlife shelters and members of the public who asked for assistance and who kindly allowed us to help them. We have ongoing support planned, once we are able to travel, for those carers in fire affected areas. As a result of the recent combined efforts of so many, we hope that carers across these areas are well stocked with supplies and equipment and that they can continue to rebuild where needed and support their local wildlife.
